Hank SR in Down Home Music

Saturday, February 23, 2008

Our good friend Paul Grushkin (coauthor of The Art of Modern Rock, author of Rockin' Down the Highway) was kind enough to give one of the Reinstate Hank prints to one of the most widely recognized record shops in the world-Down Home Music. We're proud to say that the Hank SR print will take it's place along side some incredible history on their walls. As well, we hope the fine folks at Down Home will help spread the word about reinstating Hank to music lovers all of the world. We'll be sending some materials for them to share. Thanks Paul and thanks Down Home.

THE POWER OF AN IMAGE

Just experimenting with different crops around this one strong illustration of Hank SR. Amazing how one person's likeness even just cropped eyes can still be so strong. Since the general population has no idea that Hank SR was banned and still is from The Opry maybe this image painted on the side of a building would peek interest and make people take action.

John Ham Tribute

Wednesday, January 16, 2008

A dear friend and mentor of mine has retired (for now). This is a tribute/gift for him as a send off. John has been in the illustration and design industry for 48 years and has some legendary stories to tell (a few he's shared over lunches the past 7 years). He illustrated the original Star Wars packaging (bust it out of the closet, kids, you'll see his work) among many other amazing pieces of work. He's not going to slow down but it will be tough missing his incredible eye (and friendly smile) when i ask for advice on an illustration. All the best, Hammie!!

WHAT'S BEEN UP

Friday, April 27, 2007

Well, I'm knee deep in the Hank III project. Sketch after sketch on the album cover, I'm really excited about the direction. If I can I'll post progress as I go...otherwise at the very end I'll post an extensive process blog sharing from rough to final.

All those in Salt Lake be on the lookout for "The Missing" poster. Deisel Fuel is printing the 300+ limited run and they should be posted on walls in May sometime.

I've been working with Tosca Radigonda on her book. She is an incredible photographer from Austin, TX and I'm honored to be putting this piece together...I'll share spreads very soon from the book.

In a nutshell....that's what's up.
